As part of Dementia Action Week, I attended the Alzheimer’s Society Annual Conference. This years theme is diagnosis.

I heard the real life experiences of diagnosis from people living with dementia. This was so valuable.

Sajid Javid spoke enthusiastically about the government’s forthcoming 10-year plan to improve outcomes. It was reassuring to hear real passion in what was being said, and to witness Sajid stop, and listen to the views of Joy, a lady living with dementia.

I learnt about research, and developments in science, and how this will improve assessment, leading to earlier and faster diagnosis. It was fascinating and exciting to imagine how this will impact peoples experience of diagnosis.

The day was both interesting and inspiring.
